Although notorious for being one of the most popular Jaws knockoffs, I actually like Piranha, and perhaps it's because it offers the exact opposite that Jaws does: the killer animal in the water is a large number of piranhas in a river as opposed to a lone shark in the ocean. It may be a B movie, but it's a decent B movie...unlike that piece of shit They're Playing with Fire, which was also distributed by New World Pictures.

I did see Barracuda, another knockoff, just once years ago, and I don't remember it now, and I also saw the infamous The Last Shark (or Great White). I know all too well its history of plagiarizing Jaws and being pulled from theaters because of the resulting lawsuit. I thought I commented on it on here two years ago, but since no comment has been published, I can't remember if I did or not.

I like this movie a lot too and think it's underrated. It's well written, the characters are enjoyable and the cast is fun. I haven't seen Barracuda yet but I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually. I'm generally not a fan of the Jaws ripoffs so I haven't gone out of my way to see most of them. From what I remember there were a decent amount of Italian ones.
