Ugh, I absolutely detest this movie! The original Jaws is one of my most favorite movies, and I give it four perfect stars. I like to rate movies out of four stars like Roger Ebert did, and I've even made my own Great Movies and Most Hated lists like him, too. He put Jaws on the former list, as did I, and I put Jaws: The Revenge on the latter list. (Not sure if Ebert had it on his Most Hated, but I know he hated it enough enough to award it zero stars.) Unlike Ebert, I had the capacity to give this movie just one star. For years, I named it as the worst movie I had ever seen, but I've since changed my mind with the 2012 Adam Sandler comedy That's My Boy, to which I award zero stars.

Anyway, I can't stand this movie because of how it's so ridiculously full of plot holes, continuity errors, and inconsistencies, mainly with the shark's presence. I mean, a great white shark out for revenge on the Brodys because of their past encounters with other great whites? A shark knowing who and where the Brodys are at all times? A shark knowing this that it swims to the Bahamas, where they don't naturally inhabit because of the water temperature? And on top of everything else, a shark ROARING LIKE A DINOSAUR??? COME ON!!! Just how STUPID were they trying to be with this film?!?!

I have to tell you, even though I hate Jaws: The Revenge, any time I do watch it, it's just to jeer, mock, and laugh at how stupid it really is. Glad Universal decided to stop making sequels to Jaws after this movie was lambasted by critics, though since Jaws 3 was critically panned, too, they should have known when to quit while they were ahead.

Jaws is one of the great films ever made, but Jaws: The Revenge is a god-awful film that never should have seen the light of day. Jaws 2 was decent enough, but the franchise should have ended with that one, especially since Roy Scheider refused to do more after that. But even so, no sequel can ever match a unique suspenseful thriller that Jaws was.

Another series I need to re-watch and review here! From my recollection, the series gradually gets worse as it goes along i.e. original is classic, second is passable, third is bad and fourth is absolutely awful. And yes, the plot of JTR is dumb beyond belief! I had a similar issue with the film Orca, which has some great aspects (like the score and the locations) but is so stupid I just can't really enjoy it.

Yeah, when I was a kid, my father made a joke that the shark's head gets bigger on the video/poster cover of each Jaws film, which means each succeeding film gets worse and is worse than its predecessor. Like I said, Jaws 3 was already bad, but Jaws: The Revenge is the worst one of all. Did you know it's not numbered as Jaws 4 or anything similar because it acts as if the events in Jaws 3 never happened? In other words, Jaws 3 acts like it's part of a separate continuity and Jaws: The Revenge does not directly follow it. One continuity for this series would be Jaws, Jaws 2, and Jaws 3, while the other would be Jaws, Jaws 2, and Jaws: The Revenge.
