Started many moons ago by Prof-Hieronymos-Grost, the Orloks were a yearly poll on the IMDb horror boards where users submitted Top 5 lists of their favorite horror movies for each year. All of the results were then tabulated to come up with a definitive list of the year's most-liked genre offerings. Alas, when the good Professor decided to depart the boards years ago, the awards went with him... that is until now. IMDb-er seth_yeah - taking on responsibilities as both host and calculator - has decided to bring back this long-standing tradition in 2015, and now the awards will have a permanent place right here on this blog. Scoring is rather simple and done on a weighted system where first choice receives 5 points, second choice 4 points, etc., with a +1 bonus then awarded to the #1 selection on each list. IMDb release years are being used, but it is left up to voters to determine what they may or may not consider horror (which may be in conflict with IMDb's genre labeling system). If you'd like to participate, head on over to the IMDb HORROR BOARDS to vote! So without any further ado, the results...

"The Day Of The Beast"! Ha!
It's definitely one movie I can recommend. Very interesting. Very... quirky. Although it's more a black comedy than typical horror movie...
I love it. Was my #2 pick beneath just The Addiction :)
IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS
CASTLE FREAK
THE ADDICTION
MOMMY (max allan collins)
INVISIBLE MOM (not a bad little show, this late, but it's really a stretch)
AS GOOD AS DEAD (TVM thriller, and looks every bit of one. not art.)
even with MADNESS getting a second shot, i'm far off complete again. can't include THE GRANNY, JACK O, MIND-RIPPER or SORCERESS. looks like i need to check out DAY OF THE BEAST.
hasn't been updated in a while . . .
FROM THE JOURNALS OF JEAN SEBERG
SONIC OUTLAWS
WHISPER OF THE HEART
IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS
THE GATE OF HEAVENLY PEACE
CREMASTER 1
NOSEHAIR (plympton)
THE WIFE (noonan)
SALAAM CINEMA
JUPITER'S WIFE
Ha, I'm almost afraid to admit how many times I've watched Jack-O over the years! The Granny was a lot of fun and Sorceress was a cable workhorse back in the day so I watched it a few times. I know I've seen As Good As Dead but don't remember much about it aside from Traci Lords.
maybe my dislike of JACK-O hinges on the fact that i was waiting around for brinke to show, and she appeared for mere seconds on a TV at one point. AS GOOD AS DEAD might have the most convoluted and implausible surprise plotting i've ever seen in a thriller, i think.
Jack-O is technically pretty bad but I find it extremely entertaining and hilarious. All of the names in the cast were shoehorned in from archive sources except for Linnea Quigley. I think that bit with Brinke was footage that was supposed to be in another movie that never got finished. The footage of John Carradine was leftover bits from what he shot for Demented Death Farm Massacre and the same footage of Cameron Mitchell can be seen in some awful film called Demon Cop. Dawn Wildsmith's cameo I think was early footage from Teenage Exorcist used to try to entice investors before Brinke / Grant Waldman took over the project. ALL of that was shot by Fred Olen Ray and I guess he handed it over to Latshaw to use.
my god. DEMON COP: "these... are the files of the damned. this one, tells of a woman... who found, that putting her head... into the oven... could do more than make a cake fall."
always wanted to see fred's version of TE, even if i'm _more_ than happy with waldman's. i could never turn up the movie he made later with brinke, VICTORIA'S SHADOW.
Hahaha @ Demon Cop. I think I gave that my lowest possible rating.
I never could find Victoria's Shadow either. It was probably one of those homemade films that was only sold at horror conventions.
