Started many moons ago by Prof-Hieronymos-Grost, the Orloks were a yearly poll on the IMDb horror boards where users submitted Top 5 lists of their favorite horror movies for each year. All of the results were then tabulated to come up with a definitive list of the year's most-liked genre offerings. Alas, when the good Professor decided to depart the boards years ago, the awards went with him... that is until now. IMDb-er seth_yeah - taking on responsibilities as both host and calculator - has decided to bring back this long-standing tradition in 2015, and now the awards will have a permanent place right here on this blog. Scoring is rather simple and done on a weighted system where first choice receives 5 points, second choice 4 points, etc., with a +1 bonus then awarded to the #1 selection on each list. IMDb release years are being used, but it is left up to voters to determine what they may or may not consider horror (which may be in conflict with IMDb's genre labeling system). If you'd like to participate, head on over to the IMDb HORROR BOARDS to vote! So without any further ado, the results...

Hey, *I* voted for it with no shame, along with Exorcist III, Magic Cop and The Witches. Not a bad year at all really. Big fan of Trust. A Chinese Ghost Story II and The Ambulance I have not yet seen.
need to re-see MAGIC COP. think i had too-high expectations of it originally, and it's been fifteen years at least.
I think it's every bit as good as Mr. Vampire.
OK. couple of new additions:
EXORCIST III
NIGHTBREED
THE WITCHES (henson was a genius...)
A CHINESE GHOST STORY II
GREMLINS II: THE NEW BATCH
BURIED ALIVE (TVM)
THE AMBULANCE
BLOOD SALVAGE
NAKED OBSESSION
HARD TO DIE
Your list doesn't look too far off from mine except for a few titles. I'm not sure if we are doing this poll on IMDb again next year but I hope so.
HARD TO DIE was one of the first things i looked at after finding the site. you're also to blame for WITCHES, BLOOD SALVAGE and (on second viewing) NAKED OBSESSION.
> 9. (tie) It / Canada, USA [TV] / 9 points / Tommy Lee Wallace
will be attempting all three and a quarter hours of IT tonight. somehow managed to get this far only seeing stills of tim curry as a clown. never read the book, don't know the plot. reception's mixed, and i've muddled through a couple other king minis (THE STAND & GOLDEN YEARS, i think) back when they were first on, so my expectations are properly calibrated.
How'd the It viewing go? I need to give it another watch sometime but the length really puts me off of it. I remember loving the first half and not so much caring for the second half.
started at 4:30AM (i know!) and was hooked fast. while the first half was easily much stronger all around, the interaction of the adult group assembled in maine became truly fascinating. before long, i really bought that they all had this friendship, forged in childhood -- they had been those kids, it was so convincing to me. don't think i've had anything hit me quite like that before, especially in a genre film of this vintage. i'd watch it again just for the reunion.
of course, the young counterparts were good, too. emily perkins seemed to get everything right throughout. the leader of 'the losers club', johnathan brandis, was occasionally impressive. of the seven kids, i know i've seen seth green before in earlier movies. (and the pilot episode of a bad susan harris show, GOOD & EVIL!!)
IT completely falls apart during the second sewer-visit. then there's the giant-spider reveal & bizarre tacked-on ending. unfortunately, even though they used him sparingly, curry's pennywise is never more chilling or perfectly employed/played than in the initial storm drain scene.
